Mission
The purpose of the Arroyo Sustainable Economies Community Organization (Arroyo SECO) is to educate, promote and create greater access to the practices and benefits of Time Banking, co-production and the Solidarity Economy.
We are an organization committed to systems change. In a critical era defined by over-consumption, unmitigated corporate power and declining health, education and other crucial quality of life outcomes, Arroyo SECO sees the immediate need for disruptive strategies that will lay the groundwork for true paradigm shifts.
A large part of what we do is help people realize their own empowerment through relationship building and community involvement. On a person-by-person basis and on a neighborhood-by-neighborhood scale, we seek, nurture and mobilize emerging community leaders who recognize that taking individual responsibility for the health and well-being of their own communities will lead to the most efficient and effective change.
Every effort we undertake, whether in the development of ideas, the implementation of strategies and projects, or the critical nurturing of social capital in the form of tomorrow’s leaders, is fundamentally aligned with our core values and ultimate goal: building community wealth, resilience and sustainability as a model for replication.
Our primary purpose is about community, not individual betterment, and reciprocity rather than service or charity.
