Arroyo S.E.C.O. Network of Time Banks
Based in Los Angeles, the Arroyo Seco Network of Time Banks (ASNTB) is a regional and national leader in both the Time Banking and Solidarity Economy movements. Matching untapped resources with unmet needs, Time Banking is a pay-it-forward system that encourages volunteerism and civic engagement and empowers the under-served population of the financially distressed.

Currently serving over 1,300 members in 21 different neighborhoods, the ASNTB draws members from diverse backgrounds who are passionate about filling gaps in society, providing greater social inclusion and economic stability for all. This powerful community-building tool combats poverty and isolation by teaching people to leverage existing resources through relationship building, advocacy work and creative problem-solving within their own neighborhoods. An agile and malleable service delivery model, Time Banking achieves maximum change with minimum infrastructure.
Using time as currency, with everyone’s time valued equally, members meet one another’s needs in countless and priceless ways. As members experience paradigm shift in valuation, they are more likely to creatively problem-solve and use community engagement as the primary solution.
On a very basic level, Time Banking improves quality of life as ASNTB members provide each other with 24,740 hours in service annually.
